St.Patrick's Day and Glendalough

I'm a little behind on this blogging thing, but anyway. St. Patrick's Day (don't call it Patty's day, that's offensive) fell on a Sunday this year so we did not attend the parade. We were told it's mostly Americans walking through claiming their Irishness, no big loss. But Saturday we went into town to enjoy all the street carnivals that are set up and eat some street food.

My mountain man.
Glendalough (Glendalock) is an abandoned monastic site up in the Wicklow Mountains, just west of Dublin.
Yes, it was freeeezing. We didn't stay long. But the drive was very beautiful with all the snow on the ground.

Bray Beach and Hike

Last weekend we headed out to Bray, which is a coastal town about 40 minutes East of our house. It was a very nice beach, apart from the fact that there was no sand. But the kids LOVED throwing endless amounts of rocks into the ocean.

We decided to be a bit adventurous and hike this hill. Can you see the Cross at the top??? Well you're soon going to get a close up...

Lovely family photo- grumpy faces, squinty eyes, and frazzled hair.

Our road trip adventure buddies, Aprih and Jesse.

Beautiful scenery as we start our ascent.

Seems like smooth sailing ahead...

Until we realize we are hiking up a muddy landslide.

The kids were having fun on their first true hike to date.

Gorgeous views!

It was a bit treacherous, cold then hot, muddy then rocky, and we weren't quite sure at times WHERE the trail even was, sheeesh.

but we MADE IT!

Brooks said he could "see the whole world from up here".

It was EXTREMELY windy, my heart was racing worrying that one of my fragile tiny children was going to fly right off the side of this cliff. "Hurry and take the pic so we can get DOWN" was all I was thinking.

Safely back on flat earth after Brooks decided to slide his way down the mountain through the mud. If you know this kid well then you'll know that he HATES to be dirty, there were a lot of tears.

But all in all a great adventure!

Brooks is 4!

Birthday Boy with all his presents the morning of his B-day! the floor is covered with balloons and there is a small banner that says Happy Birthday, but my decorations are sorely lacking- not of any fault of my own....they just don't sell that kind of stuff here :(

This kid seriously LOVES cards. He was very excited to recieve 8 cards in total this year.

His new Spider Man house.

Again, the cake looks good but wasn't what I wanted for my super hero. I wish I had more options to create something spectacular, maybe next year!

My adorable little assistant.

He is so excited to be 4!
He loves to make pictures with his food before he eats it....hey atleast he's eating it right?!

We love our Brooksie Bob!
He is extremely smart, goofy, emotional, caring, and a great big brother!
